Straight Razors Shaving

If you are younger than 40 years old then you probably aren’t familiar with a straight razor, or cut throat razor, unless you happen to frequent a men’s barber who uses one.
Straight razors give the closest shave you can get. They aren’t as many purchasing options as the other types of
razors but the ones that are available are certainly in line with each other.
If you have never shaved with one then you will need to take some shaving lessons because there is a certain
technique that is required. Shaving with a straight razor is much more dangerous than a disposable razor and you
can do some serious damage to your neck and face.
When shaving with a straight razor you will need more than just the razor itself. You should buy a straight
razor set to get you started. This will include things like shaving soap (World Famous Glycerine Shave Soap is
recommended), razor stand, a razor strop to polish and straighten the razor blade,
and a special brush to apply the shaving soap. By the way, a good shaving brush shouldn’t lose any hairs when
lathering the soap.

If you have any skin problems on your face, you will need to be especially careful when using a straight razor.
However, once you master shaving with one, you will be able to overcome any bumps or problems with ease. I’ve found
that shaving with straight razors gives me the ability to shave less often and with a cleaner look. However, I
still own disposable razors when I’m in a rush or shaving other parts of my body.
