Schick Razors

An unlikely man is responsible for the name behind the Schick brand. Lt. Colonel Jacob Schick worked on his ideas for improving shaving in problem environments. This led to the development of the dry shaver in the middle of the 1920’s. This also followed his safety razor. Unfortunately for Schick himself, he sold all of his ideas to an interested company. However, Eversharp Inc. renamed the acquired company after Schick which is why we will have the name today.

Schick is right behind the Gillette brand when it comes to razors. They have a long history compared to other smaller brands and offer a wide range of razor that suits to each person’s specific needs. Here is a short overview of razors that you can find with the Schick name.

Popular Schick Razors

Schick Hydro - This is one of their latest razors. It comes with either 3 or 5 blades and usually contains a gel system to keep your skin smooth and healthy.

Schick Quattro - As the name suggest, this razor contains 4 blades. They are made for both men and women in many different styles. There is even a motorized version that vibrates to help give you a better shave. Whether it helps or not is still up for debate.

Schick Tracer - This is an older razor but still a favorite of many shavers. It has 2 blades that can flex to help conform to the curves of your face.

Schick Xtreme 3 - Usually for men, this razor has 3 blades which actually came out in 1999. Now there are disposable versions of this razor with some modifications to make them better.

Schick has also added to the razor industry some innovative technology thanks to Henry Wilkonson. Wilkonson Sword Company ended up adding the double edge blade and later on a Teflon coating to help make the blades more comfortable when shaving. They have always focused on improving Jacob Schick’s and Henry Wilkinson’s ideas which is why Schick is one of the leading brands of razors in the market today.
