Schick Injector Razor In Demand 50+ Years Later

I’ve always said that simple shaving is best and the vintage Schick Injector razor is no exception. Shaving is a
delicate time for a man and safety is of utmost importance. This razor was born well over 50 years but it is still
a favorite classic for many people who remember it. Although it doesn’t compete with looks of modern razors it
outweighs them in other areas so let’s take a look.

At first glance this razor looks extremely basic and the razor blade case is not something people are familiar
with. This is because the razor blades themselves are like real razors rather than tiny strips of metal. The case
holder itself also serves as a razor loader to load the razors in to the head. It’s important that you don’t mess
around with these razors. They have got to be the sharpest thing I’ve ever known. You will cut yourself and not
even know it until you see blood. Even then you may not even feel it.
The Schick injector blades were also coated in Teflon. This was to help them glide
better since our skin and hair are an extremely sticky and friction based. One benefit about these razors, because
of their simplicity, is that it can handle different types of blades. If you need a substitute you can use the twin
blades, super chromium blades, and the standard injector plus platinum blades.
Finding the complete razor set is going to be a challenge. You can find replacement blades on amazon.com and
more importantly on EBay. At the time of writing this article the set you see in the picture is running just over
$60 USD. Not cheap, but it is to be expected since these have long since past been weeded out of production.
Shaving with this razor gives you an extremely close shave like that of a straight shave. And as I mentioned
before, you will need to take care in to not being sloppy or you may end up cutting yourself pretty good. If you
have thick hair you may only get 4 or 5 shaves out of it. The blades can be had for about a buck a piece so that
isn’t too bad.
I would definitely choose the Schick Injector over the Schick Quattro
Titanium any day!
